This video follows the progress of artist Iwan Smit, as he is painting a commission for Museum Boijmans van Beuningen. More than 500 years ago, the Italian painter, Fra Bartolommeo, was commissioned to make a grand tribute to the city of Florence. Now, in the exhibition "Fra Bartolommeo - the Divine Renaissance" (Oct.'16 - Jan.'17), Iwan Smit is given the same task. However, this time for the city of Rotterdam and in a contemporary style.

In Spring 2015 Museum Boijmans van Beuningen started the restoration of this 500 year old Hieronymus Bosch painting. In this video, curator Friso Lammertse presents the story behind the motive, and conservator Annetje Boersma evaluates the state of the painting & explains the restoration process.

The Medicine Factory ia laboratory within Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, that contains everything you need to make your wn natural medicine. It is not only a static installation - on occasions it turns into an ambulant workplace for the public to come and prepare their own medicine. ARTtube was invited to document this special workshop.

In recent times we might have lost the knowledge about plants and their healthy qualities, but The Medicine Factory wants to prove, that in spite of not knowing, we will still be able to find plants with medicinal qualities, if we dare to trust our intuition. With the help from a plant expert and a method developed for this project called 'the intuitive plant approach' (de Intuïtive Plantbenadering) the participants will find a plant in the museum park that speaks to them on an intuitive level and afterwards turn it into a medicine.

The Medicine Factory was nominated for a Dutch Design Award '15 in the category 'Design Research’.
